The UNESCO report on Butrint, Berisha calls on the Albanian-American foundation to withdraw

Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha commented on the UNSECO report on Butrint at tonight's gathering.

In the speech he gave from the balcony of his apartment where he is under 'house arrest' since December 30, 2023, Berisha has called on the Albanian-American Foundation to withdraw what he describes as 'the corrupt affair with Rama'.

" The park was torn apart with the project of Edi Rama and the Albanian-American Foundation.

I am here to publicly ask the Albanian-American Foundation to immediately withdraw from the project, ask for forgiveness because you have committed a very serious act against a fabulous asset of the Albanian nation.

It is precisely your project, based on your corrupt study with Edi Rama, that gave the latter the opportunity to design and build in Gjiri i Manastir, in Kepi i Stila with hundreds and thousands of apartments.

I have had a close, fruitful cooperation, I have respected a lot, I have highly appreciated all the contribution of this fund. I had friendly relations with its president.

But of course Butrinti was for me, the interest of the Albanians was above all.

So I say, Mr. Granoff, withdraw the project. You did him a great harm.

You have an indisputable contribution to dozens and dozens of projects in Albania.

But what you did is unimaginable. You became a co-author in a terrible megacorruption with Edi Rama.

Otherwise, with a petition we will ask the US Congress to investigate the Albanian-American Foundation. His misuse by Edi Rama" , said Berisha.
